Does my salt system still make chlorine when the water gets cold?
Many salt systems reduce or stop chlorine production when the water gets cold, to protect the cell. During cool spells chlorine may need to be topped up by hand, which is why we keep testing on weekly visits through fall and winter.
Why does my salt system show low salt after heavy rain?
Heavy rain dilutes the pool, and lowering the water level afterwards removes salt with it. Test the water before adding salt, because adding it blindly can push the level too high.
